Suburban Lions fields numerous teams in the Hockey Western Australia competition. This competition caters for elite players through to veterans and juniors beginning in school year 5 and is considered one of the most competitive leagues in the world at the elite level. Each year the club fields some 50 teams making it one of the highest participating clubs in W.A.
The club also facilitates an “Introduction to Hockey” program for children in school years 1 & 2 (Minkey) and school years 3 & 4 (Cubs) held as part of the Wolves Competition at College Park, Nedlands on Saturday mornings.
We provide an environment that allows players to pursue a career in hockey to their highest potential or to participate on a social basis in lower grades. Home games are played at Melvista Oval, Nedlands, Tregonning Field (in Highview Park), Nedlands and Lemnos Field (Shenton Turf), Shenton Park.
Summer competition and indoor hockey: For those who cant get enough of their hockey in the off season or who wish to enjoy a hit around with friends and family, keep an eye out for notices about summer competitions and teams entering into the Hockey WA indoor clubs competition.
