Hockey WA would like to congratulate some of the great names within the hockey community in WA on their recognition at the 2021 SportWest Awards.

Hockey WA’s Peter Wright has been revealed as SportWest’s Official of the Year at the SportWest Awards off the back of a trip to Tokyo to officiate at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Wright, a stalwart across the Premier League in WA, umpired five pool matches at the Tokyo Olympics, retiring after the games having officiated in a total of 139 international matches over a 17-year career.

Wright’s officiating resume stacks up with some of the best in the world, including experience at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and Glasgow, the World Cup in Bhubaneshwar and umpiring in the World League Semi Finals in Johannesburg, alongside his brother.
